A CHINESE GREEN GLAZED STONEWARE VASE, Liao dynasty. The barrel-shaped body with angled sloping shoulders supporting the cylindrical neck with slightly flared rim, applied overall with the characteristic dark green glaze - 7.5 in. (18.5 cm) high.

Liao pottery was little known before 1936, when it attracted the attention of the Japanese ... numerous sherds found in the area belong to the Ding type of porcelains ... other shards are of stoneware ... with a superb green glaze."
