Richard Taddei's interest and involvement with the decorative arts began in 1968 while still in Architecture School at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, when he was introduced to Edward Melcarth, an accomplished fine artist who was beginning a grand mural project at the Hotel Pierre in New York, and needed assistants. He was immediately hired and subsequently was introduced to the heretofore unknown worlds of Trompe l'Oeil and epic-scale painting. Later, after a lengthy apprenticeship period with such masters as Edgar Berne and Piero Yengo, he incorporated my own artistic techniques and started his own business in 1980.
