PARTIAL-GILT MEDAL: SULTAN MEHMED II, OTTOMAN EMPIRE. Portrait side with gilt highlights. Old aftercast of 1481 medal by Costanzo da Ferrara (Italian, Venice ca. 1450-after 1524 Naples (?)), an Italian artist who worked at Ottoman Sultan's court in Istanbul. It is likely that Costanzo remained at the court until the Sultan's death in 1481, when this medal was first produced. Reverse shows subject on horseback.
