IVORY COAST SENUFO PEOPLE HEDDLE PULLEYS. Set of two patinated hand carved Baule heddle pulleys which are functional tools used in weaving. Heddle pulleys are an integral part of traditional narrow-band looms used in West African cultures, particularly among the Senufo people of Ivory Coast. They are used to facilitate the movement of heddles, which are components of the loom that separate alternate warp threads, allowing the shuttle carrying the weft threads to pass through smoothly during the weaving process.
