CONGOLESE MANGBETU PEOPLE TROMBASH CEREMONIAL KNIFE. "Trumbash" or "trombash" is a ceremonial knife closely associated with the Mangbetu people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The trumbash is a distinctive throwing knife with a sickle-shaped or crescent-shaped iron blade. This blade is a testament to the advanced metalworking skills of the Mangbetu. The handle is made of carved wood and is wrapped with wire (likely copper). While the trumbash could be used as a weapon, its primary purpose, especially in later periods, was ceremonial. - Lenght: 16 inches.
