There are trees on the left side and a gnarled, windswept tree leaning dramatically to the right near the central building. The lower portion of the painting depicts a rocky ravine or stream bed, with a rustic, arching stone bridge crossing over a pool of water, adding an element of antiquity to the natural setting.
