ARTIST PROFILE: Hild is a multifaceted painter, printmaker, and art educator who holds a Doctorate of Arts in Screen Printmaking from Carnegie Mellon University. A member of the American Watercolor Society, he has exhibited his work in over 155 juried and invited shows, including prestigious appearances at the National Academies of Design and the Butler Institute of American Art. While his career has spanned several states, his recent work is deeply rooted in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, where he has taught at USCB and TCL. Hild's creative practice is currently defined by a profound connection to Hunting Island; between 2013 and 2016, he meticulously photographed the island's "boneyard" to create a series of paintings that capture the ephemeral beauty of the changing landscape. His work consistently explores the "festival of Nature at work," unified by a technical fascination with the strong aspects and effects of light.
