ARTIST PROFILE: Born in Detroit in 1953, Denny Moers is a distinguished American photographer celebrated for his mastery of the "photographic monoprint." After earning his MFA from the Visual Studies Workshop in 1977 and serving as an assistant to the legendary Aaron Siskind, Moers developed a signature process that bridges the gap between photography and painting. By strategically "fogging" silver chloride paper with light and applying chemical toners like gold and selenium during development, he creates singular, non-reproducible works characterized by extraordinary depth and unexpected color palettes. His diverse portfolio ranges from New England architecture and Western landscapes to medieval frescoes and contemporary construction sites. Today, Moers is an instructor at Roger Williams University, and his work is held in over 30 prestigious public collections worldwide, including the Museum of Fine Arts in both Boston and Houston and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.
