PRE-COLUMBIAN TEXTILE CHANCAY WEAVED FRAMED FRAGMENT, This framed ancient Peruvian textile fragment, specifically a slit-tapestry weaving from the Chancay cultures of Peru's Central Coast. The design features diagonal stripes containing repeating geometric motifs known as step-volutes, meanders, and stepped hooks. Typically dating to the Late Intermediate Period (approximately 1000–1476 CE), these fragments were woven using cotton warps and camelid wool wefts, such as alpaca or llama, utilizing a slit-tapestry technique where gaps are left between different colored sections. Framed. Not examined out of frame.
