Ruined Archway on the Shore, with Ships at Anchor
Oil on board
Signed "E.W." Small, finely detailed oval oil painting on panel depicting a tranquil coastal or riverside scene at dusk or dawn, viewed through the ruined archway of an old stone fortification on the left. Figures stand near the ruin's edge, while a rowboat with several oarsmen crosses the calm water in the foreground, and a tall-masted sailing ship rests at anchor to the right, its rigging reflected in the still water. In the misty distance, a hillside town or settlement is visible along the shoreline. Framed.
