"Esclave Galla" (Oromo slave), 19th century This monochrome profile-view portrait lithograph identified by the bold text below the image as an "Esclave Galla" (Oromo slave). Captured in a serene and dignified pose, she is shown semi-nude with a light, textured cloth draped around her waist and over her right shoulder. Her hair is styled in intricate, tight braids gathered at the back of her head, and she wears a simple, dark beaded necklace that rests against her collarbone. The fine cross-hatching and delicate shading throughout the print highlight the artist's attention to anatomical detail and the soft play of light across her skin. According to the small inscriptions at the base of the image, the piece was printed by Imprimerie Bertauts in Paris and lithographed by Adolphe Mouilleron. Sheet: 14 x 10.75 inches; image: 9 x 7.5 inches $120-160
