CONGOLESE SALAMPASU PEOPLES MUFUAMPO MASK, Mid 20th century. Patinated "Mufuampo" mask, raffia mask, made by the Salampasu Peoples in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Masks has a protuberant forehead, sunken eyes, flat nose, sharp filles teeth, headdress made of black-tinted wicker balls, and pointed shin. Consignor acquired mask while working in the vicinity of the town of Mweka, Congo. - height: 15 inches.
