IVORY COAST FANG RELIQUARY GUARDIAN HEAD, Mid-to-late 20th century. Patinated hand carved guardian head of the Fang People in Ivory Coast. This head would have served as part of a reliquary ensemble, and was originally placed on a box containing portions of the skulls of important ancestors. Acquired at a Chicago-based auction of the African and ethnographic artifacts of collector Max Garb. - Height: 13 inches.
