NAMIBIAN HIMBA PEOPLE KUNENE REGION FEMALE ANKLE BRACELETS, 2018. Pair of patinated and used ankle (or "omihanga") bracelets worn by the Himba People, an indigenous people living in northern Namibia. Such bracelets are made of leather and iron or steel beads and are used partly to protect against snake bites and to show how may children she has had (based on the amount of leather straps). Acquired in Namibia in 2018.
