The icon includes multiple scenes to tell the narrative: on the left, Saint Anna (Mary's mother) is shown reclining on a high bed after giving birth, while the lower-left corner depicts midwives preparing a bath for the infant Mary. In the center and right, the icon shows the joyful celebration of the birth, featuring Saint Joachim (Mary's father) alongside Anna, and a procession of maidens bringing gifts. At the very top, within a celestial arc, sits God the Father (Sabaoth) blessing the scene below. This iconographic style is highly detailed and meant to be "read" like a story. it is painted in the classic 18th or 19th-century style with egg tempera on wood. Icon is mounted to a board.
