TWO SOUTHWESTERN NATIVE AMERICAN COILED BASKETS, ONE WITH BIRD MOTIF Two coiled fiber baskets of oval, boat-like form. The first, possibly Pima or Tohono O'odham, is finely coiled in natural willow with a dark devil's claw rim and a stylized bird or quail figure worked in dark fiber against the natural ground. The second, a plain-weave twined example in undyed natural fiber, shares the same oval boat form and open, airy lattice-like weave without figural decoration, its interior bearing an old inventory tag.
