ANGOLAN CHOKWE PWO MASK WITH A HEADDRESS. Chokwe Pwo mask with a headdress known as Mwana Pwo (young woman) or Pwo (woman). It represents ideal womanhood, fertility, and wisdom and they are traditionally worn by male dancers during ceremonies like the mukanda initiation for young boys, where they imitate the gait of young women. The mask is adorned with intricate patterns, it features scarification marks on the forehead and cheeks and includes a well-preserved headdress, often made of woven fibers or raffia. - 25 inches lenght.
