CONGOLESE KUYU HEAD MOUNTED ON A GOURD. A Kuyu head carved of wood. The head has a multi-layer coiffure, a rectagular mouth with exposed dentition and geometric & zig-zag carving to indicate scarification around the eyes. There is also scarification on the neck and cheeks. A deep red pigment is applied throughout the piece. It is attached to a gourd.
