Estimate $3,000-5,000

A formal campaign portrait of Whig presidential candidate Henry Clay, after the painting by John Neagle, done at Ashland, Clay's estate in Kentucky. As this print's legend states, the original was painted "by the order of Philadelphia Whigs and with the approbation of the Central Clay association." Henry Clay signed, thus, autographing this important historical print at lower right of the print, which he probably executed during the Presidential campaign for one of his political supporters possibly in the Philadelphia Whigs or the Central Clay association.
